Activities focusing on the energy sector have accounted for nearly 20 percent of PPIAF’s portfolio since inception. While energy-related initiatives cover a broad range, a main focus has been electricity projects in Africa and East Asia.

To help make the best use of energy resources, PPIAF is supporting cross-border cooperation and cross-regional electricity trade. And in Vietnam, for example, PPIAF is helping to develop a power market, a policy and regulatory framework for the sector, and a framework for competitive bidding of independent power projects.
