PPIAF’s support to the water sector has accounted for about 20 percent of its overall portfolio, though in recent years the share has declined to around 10 percent.

PPIAF grants are helping to engage stakeholders in Pakistan and reduce water losses in Vietnam. And in Kenya, for example, PPIAF supported a study to assess the financial feasibility of extending microcredit to small-scale providers as a way of bringing water supply to rural and periurban areas.
