In Central Asia and Europe low- and middle-income countries are striving to improve infrastructure services through public-private partnerships. In fiscal 2007 PPIAF awarded new funding of $2.35 million for activities in the region. The largest share, slightly more than half, went to the transport sector, to help governments develop highways and railways through public-private partnerships.

Activities in Central Asia and Europe have accounted for 14 percent of PPIAF’s portfolio since inception.
