A World Bank pilot project is helping build knowledge on infrastructure through Wikipedia. So far the project has produced 47 articles in English and 17 in Spanish, covering the water & sanitation and electricity sectors in Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) countries. “We saw Wikipedia as a way to overcome the shortcomings of other forms of knowledge management that are less interactive, less structured and have less reach and visibility,” said Manuel Schiffler, a senior economist working on the project. The articles received 31,000 hits in January.
