Launch of Infrastructure and Law Web site
This site provides practical guidance and good practice on the planning, development and legal structuring of infrastructure projects, especially those involving the private sector.  It includes sample documents, clauses and legislation from the power, water and sanitation, telecom and transport sectors (urban coming soon), with materials in English, French and Spanish. Private activity in infrastructure reached a new peak in 2007
Investment commitments to infrastructure projects with private participation in low- and middle-income countries grew by 25 percent to US$158 billion in 2007, reaching a new peak that is almost 10 percent higher than the 1997 peak. The Private Participation in Infrastructure Database, which recently released the data, will continue monitoring changes to projects and investment trends in light of the current financial climate. www.worldbank.org/ppi

Financing Water for Growth in Africa
November 26-27, 2008
Dakar, Senegal

Organized by the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) and hosted by the Government of Senegal, the purpose of the meeting will be to facilitate investment in the water sector through dialogue. Business discussion on projects from across the continent will present opportunities for private sector engagement now and in the medium term. The meeting will review recent developments in the water sector in Africa, and provide a forum for debate on issues such as finance instruments, service delivery and storage. Learn more
