PPIAF Highlights

PPIAF Annual Report  
PPIAF continues its strategic focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, directing its greatest-ever amount of funding to the region in fiscal 2009. The region’s 32 new activities received PPIAF grants totaling US$7.6 million, roughly 50 percent of the US$15.3 million in country- and region-specific commitments for fiscal 2009 (up from 45 percent in fiscal 2008). PPIAF's Annual Report is now available on-line. Managing Contingent Liabilities in Public-Private Partnerships 
What is the best way to apportion risks between governments and the
private sector and how are these risks valued, disclosed, and monitored? How can governments manage the risks they take on? These critical questions were the topic of discussion at a recent PPIAF-sponsored event to present the study “Managing Contingent Liabilities in Public-Private Partnerships: Practice in Australia, Chile, and South Africa.” Learn more.

Dakar-Diamniadio Toll Highway 
In 2007 PPIAF approved a $250,000 grant to support the establishment of the institutional and regulatory framework for the Dakar-Diamniadio Toll Highway project. The transport sector, specifically roads, is a priority infrastructure sector for the Government of Senegal. The project has now been recognized for its innovation. Learn more.

World Bank and PPIAF PPP in Infrastructure Resource Center for Contracts, Laws and Regulation 
PPPIRC guides project managers and clients through key issues relating to the design, development, and legal structuring of PPP projects and infrastructure reform projects. This platform was formerly known as the Law and Infrastructure Web site. Learn more.

Un partenariat réussi pour l’eau en Côte d’Ivoire: Leçons tirées de 50 ans de gestion privée efficace
Gridlines #50, about the successful PPP for the national water utility of Côte d’Ivoire, is now available in French. The English version was published in August 2009. 

Encore dix ans de perdus ? Les effets de la crise financière sur les financements de projets d’infrastructures  
Gridlines #48, about the financial crisis' impact on infrastructure projects, has been translated into French for a wider dissemination in PPIAF's client countries. The English version was published in June 2009.
