United States Agency for International Development

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) joined PPIAF’s Donor Council in 2003. USAID and PPIAF have identified the key role that the private sector can play to support governments in developing countries as they seek to modernize, rehabilitate, and build new infrastructure, which is required to provide basic services such as clean water, electricity, roads, ports, airports, and better telecommunications to underserved populations. The private sector not only brings capital and mobilizes resources for investments in infrastructure, but it also brings cutting edge technologies, management best practices, professionalism and leadership, and tools to achieve efficiencies.
