Ghana : Paratransit industry in an improved public transport system in Kumasi

The objective of this activity is to prepare the participation of paratransit (informal transport) operators in an improved multimodal public transport system in the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area), as part of a BRT project currently under preparation. It does so through the following three complementary workstreams:
1.    Consolidation of the regulatory framework through a registration campaign for paratransit operators, including the establishment of a current public transport record (CPTR) database.
2.    Conduction of a feasibility study for the rollout of two pilot scheduled services routes to be operated by paratransit operators.
3.    Development of a fleet renewal strategy, including the identification of mechanisms to enhance the financial and creditworthiness of the paratransit industry.
